New Telescope Acquired

The Society has acquired another telescope , kindly donated by Lucasz Domanski .

It is a Skywatcher 5inch reflector with a motor drive and camera attachment to fit Canon DSLR cameras.

Please let me know if you wish to borrow it.

New Scientist Live Show 20th September 2018

Earlier in the year , Janice MacLean from the British Astronomical Asssociation invited HGSAS to participate in the New Scientist Live Show as guests on their stand - 441 in the COSMOS Section.

Christina, Dianne and I prepared 6 quizzes that we ran throughout the day with prizes of the Books "Cataclysms and Renewals" and "Star Core Zeus" by Rupert Holms, which were kindly donated by the author.

The day was very successful. Well over 100 people visited our stand and 76 entered the quizzes.Christina did a fabulous job encouraging people to visit our stand.

It was a tiring but satisfying day and we feel that a lot more people now know about our society

Many than ks to Dianne and Christina for their hard work in making it a success!

HGS Astronomical Society has been invited by the British Astronomical Association( BAA) to join them on their stand on the opening day of the New Scientist Live exhibition

The exhibition runs from 20th to 23rd September and will be held at the ExCel centre in London.

Do come and visit us at stand 441 in the Cosmos section!
